The next day, early morning.
When Mu’en woke from his sleep, he saw Senior Anna still sitting by the window with the blue curtains swaying, resting her chin on her hand, gazing out at the scenery.
The thin morning sunlight streamed in through the window, casting a jade-like halo on her fair profile.
At this moment, all flirtation faded away; sitting in the light, the senior appeared so pure.
Mu’en couldn’t help but be transfixed for a moment.
“You’re awake?”
The gentle greeting pulled his soul back, and Mu’en came to his senses, finding the senior looking at him with a smile.
“How do you feel?”
“I… feel great, I’ve never felt this good before. My mind is so light…”
Mu’en instinctively replied, then recollected himself: “The potion from yesterday…”
“It’s a sleeping potion that ensures you get a good night’s rest. After all, maintaining a good state before the exam is the most important thing, right?”
“I see…”
Mu’en realized, a bitter smile forming on his lips.
Unknowingly, he had got a bit carried away.
After all, even if his mental strength was tough, such intense studying with only two hours of sleep per day would cause fatigue to accumulate unwittingly.
If the senior hadn’t used the potion to force him to rest for a night, helping him wake up, he would have spent an entire night reviewing and still probably wouldn’t achieve good results in the exam.
For any exam, being in the right state of mind is also a crucial element.
“So, did you stay here all this time?”
Seeing Anna still sitting in that spot, as if she had never left, Mu’en couldn’t help but ask.
“How could that be?”
Anna rolled her eyes at Mu’en, exuding charm.
“I also have my own things to do, okay? It’s just that you slept too long.”
“But…”
Suddenly, Anna crossed her arms and leaned forward, a playful smile curving her lips:
“Are you implying that you want me to keep you company while you sleep?”
“This… since you mentioned it.”
Mu’en straightened his posture and said earnestly:
“Then as your junior, I don’t mind sacrificing a little.”
“Hee hee, saying that with a flushed face doesn’t hold much persuasive power, Junior~”
Anna giggled with delight, then changed the subject:
“While you were sleeping, I made a small change for you. You don’t mind, do you?”
“A small change?”
Mu’en was completely puzzled when he saw Anna handing over a cute makeup mirror.
Taking the mirror and glancing at it, he was instantly stunned.
The person in the mirror had neatly cropped golden hair, which was even more striking than the morning sun outside. The stubble on his jaw was cleanly shaved, highlighting his original cleanliness and handsomeness.
“This… was done by you, Senior?”
“Is there anyone else here besides me?”
Anna let out a soft sigh:
“I couldn’t help but tidy up when I saw you like that yesterday. You won’t blame me, will you?”
“No, no.”
Mu’en twirled a strand of short hair, slightly shocked:
“I just didn’t expect that you would cut hair, and… your skill is so good, I almost thought it came from some professional.”
“Hee hee, you still have such sweet words, Junior.”
Anna covered her mouth and chuckled:
“But in reality, I haven’t cut anyone’s hair for a long time. I used to do it often in the orphanage.”
“Orphanage?”
Mu’en sharply caught this word.
“It’s not a good habit to casually pry into a woman’s past, Junior.”
Anna flicked his forehead gently with her finger.
“You need to prepare since the exam is coming up.”
“Ah, right!”
Mu’en suddenly realized, quickly glancing at the time, and found he had only about an hour left before the exam.
“I actually slept for almost fifteen hours?”
He calculated the time and understood why Anna had said he slept too long.
Sleeping for fifteen hours at once is something even a pig wouldn’t do.
“I had intended to review the material one more time before the exam, but now there’s no time.”
With a bitter smile, Mu’en quickly bid farewell to the senior:
“Well then, Senior, I’m leaving.”
“Be careful on the way, and good luck.”
“Yes, I will.”
As Mu’en prepared to leave, he instinctively glanced back one last time at the doorway.
In the empty potion classroom, the senior leaned against the wall alone, turning to look out into the even emptier outside, the blue curtains casting a cold shadow on her, making her appear… so lonely.
Mu’en’s heart inexplicably twitched:
“Senior.”
“Hmm?”
“About the thing you mentioned before.”
Mu’en turned around and said seriously:
“I want to join the Ancient Magic Potion Society.”
“Oh? Why do you suddenly bring this up?”
Anna raised her eyebrows in surprise and then smiled gently:
“Has the junior finally developed an interest in ancient potions?”
“Um, I guess so.”
Mu’en replied earnestly.
But he was actually lying.
In fact, he wasn’t that interested in potions at all.
For someone like Mu’en, who strongly pursued power, potions, a subject that was highly applicable but offered little help with his actual strength, shouldn’t be something he’d waste time on.
It’s just that…
Mu’en suddenly remembered that yesterday, the senior had finished teaching him the last lesson.
That meant the bond between teacher and student had come to an end.
However, Mu’en didn’t want his bond with the senior to disappear so easily; he needed something new to connect himself with her.
So, regardless of whether it was potions, magic, or magic paintings, regardless of what kind of society it was, Mu’en would join.
“Alright.”
Anna looked at Mu’en, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear, and smiled warmly:
“Welcome aboard, Junior.”
So Mu’en smiled back:
“Are there any membership procedures?”
“It’s a small society like mine, so there aren’t many formalities. Just remember to stop by occasionally; I’ll generally be around in the afternoons.”
“I see.”
Mu’en nodded:
“Then I’ll go take the exam first. See you later, Senior.”
“Mm, see you later.”
“Ah, right.”
Mu’en suddenly remembered something, but it felt a bit shy to bring it up.
“Um… Senior, do you have time on the open day?”
Although St. Maria Academy is a closed management institution, every month after the exams, there is a three-day free break known as the open day.
This is when students return home to recharge, as well as the celebration day for some students who have been cooped up in the academy.
It is said that the commercial street outside the academy is actually open only during these three days each month, yet they earn a fortune, and even the hotels on the street need to be booked a month in advance.
“Open day, huh?”
Anna thought for a moment. “I have something to do on the first day, but I’m free at other times.”
“Then…”
Mu’en took a deep breath and asked:
“Senior, how about going out with me to walk around on the second day?”
“Oh?”
Anna was taken aback for a second, then promptly reacted with a teasing smile:
“Are you implying… that you want to invite me on a date?”
“A date? That’s a nice way to put it.”
Mu’en said with a slightly flushed face:
“But in reality, I just want to show my appreciation to you a bit.”
“Appreciation?”
Anna twirled a lock of hair, her gaze shifting:
“But I haven’t decided what kind of reward I want yet.”
“This isn’t a reward.”
Mu’en replied earnestly:
“This is just a token of my appreciation.”
“A token of appreciation?”
Anna paused for a moment, then broke into a smile, her eyes crescent-shaped, “Alright, since it’s an invitation from you, Junior, I’ll go.”
